Watching YouTube videos is fun and takes more time than it really should, but ... well ... c'est la vie. However, if you want to be able to watch them offline (or show to people with no net access), things are slightly more problematic. But only slightly. There are (at least) two options:
1) you can save them (the long URL address next to the video window is where the actual file lives - copy-and-paste that URL into any download manager and you will get the clip) but since YouTube clips are in the Flash format with the .flv extension you need a special FLV Player which can be had from many sites (e.g. http://www.applian.com/files/FLVPlayerSetup.exe)
2) you can use the online conversion tool at http://www.zamzar.com/ (which also converts tons of other formats) where you just copy-and-paste the link to a YouTube video (as long as it's smaller than 100 MB) and select the output format. You can even have the files mailed to you (bear in mind the size of your mailbox).
